2016 Semangat X, Petronas Gallery, Malaysia
Exhibition SEMANGAT X: Visual Expressions of Southeast Asian Identity showcases elements of values stemming from shared traditions and cultural geography of the Southeast Asian region. Featuring artworks by 24 prominent artists from this region, these artworks convey national characters; each identity uniquely shaped by its social and political conditions. Within these varied artistic styles and gestures exist coherent values that binds the regional consciousness — stemming from collective memories, psyche, behavior patterns, customs, practices and systems of belief, expressively manifested through contemporary visual art idioms.

Aligned to GALERI PETRONAS’s mission to preserve, promote and develop contemporary art in Malaysia, this latest exhibition will document the cultural and social dynamics of a shifting society in SEMANGAT 10, not only to reflect the vibrancy of Southeast Asia’s contemporary art scene, but also to foster linkages among members of the Southeast Asian art fraternity. This exhibition is open to public from 23 November 2016 until 15 January 2017at GALERI PETRONAS, Level 3, Suria KLCC. Admission is free.
